A new hair salon has opened its doors in one of Worcester’s courtyard retail spaces today.

Hair Studio Yolanda is the latest business to open in The Hopmarket.
Situated in Unit 16, Hair Studio Yolanda offers a range of hair and beauty treatments including balayage, babylights, highlights, and bridal hair; Yolanda is also trained to offer lashlifts, lash tinting, eyebrow lamination and waxing.

Yolanda – who came to the UK in 2014 – has been a hairdresser since 2006.

Yolanda explained : “I am thrilled to have opened a hair salon in The Hopmarket; it has always been my dream! I chose The Hopmarket because I love the area and the history of the building.”

Yolanda, who now lives in Worcester with her family, is originally from Chile.

Bill Simpson, Chairman of The Hopmarket Charitable Trust said : “We would like to welcome Yolanda to The Hopmarket. She is taking over from a former ladies’ hair stylist who was with us for 25 years. Supporting independent businesses is more critical than ever and we are sure that her hair salon will fit in with other similar businesses in the courtyard, including Aesthetics by Sian and Trimz Barbershop. We wish her all the best in her new venture!”

Yolanda concluded : “My aim is to establish and eventually grow my business. Each year I take a new course to develop my skills and expertise; infact last year I went to Spain to train with celebrity stylists Gabriel Samra and Melissa Schlukebier which was such an honour! My aspiration is to ensure my clients can find everything in one place and enjoy every single second they spend in the salon.”

Hair Studio Yolanda is open from 9.00am until 5.30pm, Tuesday to Friday and from 9.00am until 6.30pm on Saturday.

Prior to opening her salon, Yolanda worked for Esthetique Beauty Clinic in the city which won a top industry award in 2021.

Worcester’s Hopmarket is home to a range of independent retailers, including hairdressers, gift shops and cafes.

The Hopmarket has been a place to do business since 1731 where dealers came to trade hops. In the early 1900s the site was replaced with the current building to become a hotel and bank before being converted to a thriving shopping courtyard.
