Worcester Citizens Advice is a non-government funded individual registered charity who are proud to operate on the following principles:
- We’re here for everyone;
- We provide free, confidential and independent advice and work to fix the underlying causes of our clients’ problems;
- We offer a range of services, supporting people, providing information or advice and directing people to the best source of help for their issue particularly for housing, debt or welfare benefits;
- We are a voice for people on the issues that matter to them;
- We value diversity, champion equality and challenge discrimination.
Worcester Citizens Advice Bureau moved to its purpose built building in the Hopmarket in 2001 having been at various other locations since 1975. At that time there were just 12 volunteers and two staff. It now has a total of trained 78 volunteers who contribute approximately 17,500 hours of work to the charity per year.
Our clients are often from the most marginalised sectors of our society – our waiting room is always full. Housing, debt and benefits continue to be key issues. Citizen Advice helps people find a way forward – we can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating. At Citizens Advice we believe no one should have to face these problems without good quality, independent advice.
That’s why we’re here: to give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.
